A dog rescue charity in Rotherham took in two cute Chihuahuas, Toby and Chloe after the sibling’s crying was discovered by the police. The Chihuahuas left with no food or water were abandoned by their owners, who supposedly went on holiday.
Helping Yorkshire Poundies said when the owners of the dogs returned from their holiday they did not want their pets back. In a Facebook post to introduce its followers to the dogs, the charity started speaking on their behalf:
You won’t believe what we’ve been through. We were rescued by the police after we were left to fend for ourselves in the house when my owners went on holiday and didn’t want us back. We couldn’t believe it…our little legs couldn’t find food or water for ourselves – it was horrible being alone and hungry.Toby, one of the two Chihuahuas left alone with no food or water
When Toby and Chloe were found, they were in a dire state. The Chihuahuas were abandoned by their owners, without a morsel of food or a drop of water to sustain them while their uncaring owners took off for a holiday.
Toby and Chloe – From Abandonment to Rescue
The poor critters were left alone for what seemed to be an eternity, but the rescuers estimated a period of two weeks. This was the duration of their owners’ holiday. During this time, they were without any supply of food or clean water.
Toby and Chloe were severely emaciated when they were found. Their ribs were visible beneath their thinning fur, and they showed signs of dehydration and stomach ache. Their overall health was significantly deteriorated due to malnutrition.
The abandonment also left them in a severe state of emotional distress. They were visibly frightened and anxious and showed symptoms of separation anxiety. The once lively and joyful duo now showed signs of severe stress and trauma.
The dogs were noticeably terrified and their physical condition was abysmal. It was a heart-wrenching sight,”One of the rescuers who discovered the Chihuahuas left in a dire state
Just imagine the nightmare they must have lived through. They were left behind in an empty home, deprived of necessities, and worst of all, the love and companionship they were used to.
Rehabilitation for the Chihuahuas Left Alone
Toby and Chloe, despite their ordeal, showed remarkable resilience. They were immediately put under the care of veterinarians and therapists who worked tirelessly to nurse them back to health and help them overcome their trauma.
Me and Chloe get on OK, but she gets fed up with me sometimes, so today I’ve had my little boys op (Apparently we can’t risk us having any pesky little babies of our own!) So I’m feeling extra sorry for myself tonight, but I’ll be OK!Toby, one of the two Chihuahuas left alone with no food or water
This heartfelt quote from Toby, one of our Chihuahuas looking for a new home, highlights the importance of understanding the needs and characteristics of these wonderful pets before adoption. Let’s delve into the details of both Toby and Chloe.
- Recently neutered, requiring a little extra care and attention during his recovery.
- Has a playful personality that can sometimes be misinterpreted as attention-seeking.
- She is more independent and can become a little exasperated with Toby’s energetic antics.
- Chloe would appreciate a calm environment where she can relax and enjoy her own space.
We would really love to find our perfect forever people soon we can be rehomed together or separately. We’re happy together or apart.Chloe, one of the two Chihuahuas left alone with no food or water
As we draw the curtains on this melancholic tale, the silver lining remains that both Chihuahuas have been safely rehomed. Though the initial phase of their lives was marred by neglect and abandonment, these resilient pups have managed to bounce back from their past, demonstrating the incredible adaptability of canines.
The heartening update is that their new owners are dedicated to providing them with the love and care that they were previously denied. These pups have not only found a roof over their heads but more importantly, they have found a place in the hearts of their new family.
Though it is essential to hold the original owners accountable for their actions, it is equally important to focus on the future of these charming Chihuahuas. They have been given a fresh start, a new lease on life, and are now flourishing in a home where they are cherished and valued.
